Description

The Palace of Peace and Reconciliation is a symbol of friendship, unity and peace in Kazakhstan. The idea of construction of the Pyramid was suggested by the Head of the state Nursultan Nazarbaev on the first Congress of World and traditional religions which took place in Astana City on the 23-24 of September 2003 and it became an epochal event of the XXI century. The process of the second congress was already held in the special building, in the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation, which was designed in the form of a pyramid in 2006.

The author of the project is a famous British architect Lord Norman Robert Foster. The Pyramid has a pure form, 62 meters high and 62 meters base. The top of the pyramid is decorated with a work of art the artist Brian Clarke. There is a picture of 130 doves that symbolize 130 nationalities living in Kazakhstan. At the opening ceremony of the Palace on stage opera hall was a concert of the world opera star Montserrat Caballe.

There are the Opera Hall with 1302 seats, party hall Atrium, Hall “Besyk”, exhibition halls, gallery “Kulanshi”, the press center, the ethnic cultural centers of Astana, the International Center of Cultures and Religions and the Academy of the Turkic World.

GCE “Palace of Peace and Reconciliation” was founded on the 13rd of July, 2009 according by the decision of Akimat of Astana.

The Palace is working seven days a week. Tours are conducted in three languages – Kazakh, Russian and English.
